Camp Kudzu Selected By the Chauncey Davis Foundation as a 2009 Recipient of the Community Impact Award

We are used to seeing Mr. Chauncey Davis on Sunday afternoons sacking quarterbacks and wearing number 92 for the Atlanta Falcons.  Luckily, his striking smile was visibly present and not his menacing defensive end stance when he glowingly presented our CEO, Alex Allen, with his foundation's award.

Mr. Davis' mother is living with diabetes and he has witnessed firsthand the affects and impact of diabetes personally.  His personal experience and passion to make a difference in the lives of young people fueled the idea behind the Chauncey Davis Early Bird Foundation.   The foundation offers year-round health education and fitness programs that encourage youth to stay fit for life.

Camp Kudzu was selected for the award based on our contributions of providing a healthy camp community for campers to spend time in the outdoors, to be active and to improve their knowledge of diabetes health management skills. The financial award from the Chauncey Davis Early Bird Foundation is earmarked to provide scholarships for campers to attend camp this summer.   Young people of various ages will be able to attend camp because of Chauncey's generous gift.  Thank you!

Thanks to the Davies and Kipniss families, especially Caitlin and Heather, who worked hard to make the first ever Kudzu Classic Softball Tournament a terrific success in June, 2009.
