Teen Girls' Retreat was GREAT! Forty of the greatest girls in Georgia attended the teen girls' retreat last month, renewing friendships, meeting new girls, and getting a boost in living life fully with diabetes. It was only 35 degrees Farenheit outside, but the spirit was warm. Thank you to the terrific women who volunteered at this program and made it as special and good as it was: Kelli O'Neil, Aimee Minton, Katie Van Galder, Caitlin Mobley, Kristin Echelberger, Ashlie Hale, Allie Tanner, Jodi Heflin, Staci Kies, Megan Smith, Jill Morrisey, Kaitlyn Dukes, Adria Francois, Leigh Richards, Chrissy Funaki, April Bumpus, Bethany Kinsey, Jenn Morrell, Jessie Hudson, Dr. Jen Badik, Gail Philbrick, Dianne Sanchez and Brandy Cochran. And thank you to the only man allowed on site: Kurt Poling who moved mountains of luggage moving in and out!
Maureen McGrath Honored
Maureen McGrath was celebrated by the Diabetic Youth Foundation in Berkley, California on November 14. She and her brother were the honorees at a benefit for the Diabetic Youth Foundation (of California) and Bearskin Meadow Camp.

The evening's honorees-Maureen and her brother, Terry McGrath
She had attended the camp as a 19 year old as counselor and continued to attend the camp for the following 17 years in multiple roles including camp director and head nurse and diabetes educator. She was responsible for recruiting her brother to serve on the board of the foundation for many years.

Maureen has been a Board member and revered Clinician for Camp Kudzu for 10+ years! Please join us in congratulating her.
Camp Kudzu Selected By the Chauncey Davis Foundation as a 2009 Recipient of the Community Impact Award
We are used to seeing Mr. Chauncey Davis on Sunday afternoons sacking quarterbacks and wearing number 92 for the Atlanta Falcons. Luckily, his striking smile was visibly present and not his menacing defensive end stance when he glowingly presented our CEO, Alex Allen, with his foundation's award.
Mr. Davis' mother is living with diabetes and he has witnessed firsthand the affects and impact of diabetes personally. His personal experience and passion to make a difference in the lives of young people fueled the idea behind the Chauncey Davis Early Bird Foundation. The foundation offers year-round health education and fitness programs that encourage youth to stay fit for life.
Camp Kudzu was selected for the award based on our contributions of providing a healthy camp community for campers to spend time in the outdoors, to be active and to improve their knowledge of diabetes health management skills. The financial award from the Chauncey Davis Early Bird Foundation is earmarked to provide scholarships for campers to attend camp this summer. Young people of various ages will be able to attend camp because of Chauncey's generous gift. Thank you!
Have an idea? Let us help you with YOUR fundraiser. You too can send a child to camp.
