Volunteer Training Highlights

The team at Camp Kudzu has spent the past few months monitoring guidelines and protocols set forth by the CDC and the American Camp Association, talking with medical professionals in our community, and planning for the moment we could welcome campers, volunteers, and families back to an in-person program. On Saturday, August 22 we hosted 25 volunteers at Camp Twin Lakes to practice what these new protocols would look like, share ideas about how we can integrate them into Kudzu’s programs, and get excited for the future of Camp Kudzu.

Donning masks and keeping 6 feet of distance, we practiced a drive-thru check-in process, traveling through camp in assigned cohorts, demonstrating appropriate spacing in large common spaces, grab-and-go meal options, and much more! The overall outcome of the day was a sense of relief that camp is possible with these new protocols and excitement to set foot on Camp Twin Lake’s campus. We know that moving forward there will be more need for training and re-training of our volunteers, giving each other grace as we navigate new safety protocols, and most importantly JOY to be back again at our favorite place, Camp Kudzu!

Keep an eye out for the announcement of upcoming programs like Teen Retreat Weekend and Family Programs! We can’t wait to see you at camp!
