Summer Fees Update

Just like every summer, the safety of our campers, counselors, and staff is our first priority.  The successful commitment and follow through of all our protocols and procedures by our families, campers and staff led to a very successful Summer 2021 Season. We remain optimistic that we will open camp as per usual and welcome a healthy, happy community for summer 2022.  We want to strive to find ways to navigate the new normal and continue to be an intricate part of the T1D community.

Next month, we will announce our program dates for the upcoming season. Currently, we are planning on moving towards the near-capacity participant levels of Summer 2019. This is great news to our campers and families that were on the waitlist this year and unable to attend this year’s summer sessions!

Last year, Camp Kudzu made changes in the fee structure allowing for the continued growth and strengthened impact of the organization. Realizing that different families have different abilities to pay, Camp Kudzu will continue to use the Tier System for fee structure. The concept of tiered pricing is based on the principle that a family’s financial commitment should be proportionate to its financial resources. Tiered pricing allows Camp Kudzu to provide the highest quality programs to all community income levels, preserving the livelihood of the entire organization.

Tier 3: Camp Fee Plus Paying It Forward

Description: This fee more closely accounts for the true costs of camp. This option is for families who are able to cover the full camp fee and pay it forward for other families to continue having the opportunity to attend camp through our scholarship fund. Summer Camp $1600/Sprouts Day Camp $800

Tier 2: Camp Fee

Description: This is our camp fee and is a partially subsidized fee. Summer Camp $1200/Sprouts Day Camp $600

Tier 1: Scholarship

Description: This tier allows families to pay the portion of camp fees they can, and the difference is made up by monies from our scholarship fund. The fee will be determined by the information provided in the scholarship application. This would be a non-refundable registration fee and we will make every effort we can to work with you to get your camper(s) to camp. Summer Camp $200/Sprouts $100

Our passion and desire to impact that T1D community is stronger than ever. Nearly 45% of our campers participated in Camp Kudzu programs with the help of our scholarship program.

Lastly, we received feedback from our families about the Summer 2021 Refund Policy. Historically, Camp Kudzu has had a generous refund policy. However, we made some necessary changes to the policy to ensure the longevity of Camp Kudzu. The Camp Kudzu Staff and Board of Directors, just like many of our families, had to make tough decisions about our ability to do business and weathered the storm of fewer donor dollars and the impact of refunding the majority of the 2020 camper fees.

Our refund policy was rewritten to help support the entire organization if the summer season was cancelled.  Fortunately, that was not the case. Going forward, all registrations will require a nonrefundable deposit. This deposit is $200 for resident camp and $100 for day camp. In the event that a camper can’t attend their scheduled program, the deposit will be used to pay Camp Kudzu’s financial obligations made to and shared by our vendors and partners.

We are available to speak with you about our scholarship program and finding the right fit for your budget with our payment plan. Please feel free to reach out to Kat Shreve at kshreve@campkudzu.org.
