Counselors in Training Program
Counselors in Training Program
Campers entering their senior year of high school are invited to apply for our Counselor in Training (CIT) program!
CITs get to enjoy both the traditional camper experience, while also getting hands-on leadership training with mentorship from seasoned staff. This week of fun and learning gives CITs the tools to confidently lead in and outside of the camp environment.
While at camp, CITs are bunked in cabins by gender along with 1-2 adult CIT leaders. Throughout the week, they enjoy a specialized schedule that mixes traditional camp activities with leadership, teamwork, and diabetes management education. After the first day, each CIT is paired with a younger camper cabin for the rest of the session and spends time with them at activities throughout the week. When they’re not with their cabins, they’re with other CITs having fun as campers. This way, they get the chance to see what camp looks like on both sides, as a camper and as a counselor. They also get to test their newfound leadership skills by running an evening program for the entire camp at the end of the week!
A CIT week will serve as an “interview week” for the following year when CITs can apply for the Junior Counselor Program.
Hopeful CITs must fill out the summer camp application online. Be sure to select the CIT-specific form for the session they would like to attend.

Cost
Realizing that different families have different abilities to pay, Camp Kudzu utilizes a tiered fee structure. We instituted this structure to provide the highest quality programs possible, to continue serving all community income levels, and to preserve camp for years to come!
The cost for the Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program is:
- Tier 3 – $1,600 (Camp Fee + Pay it Forward to another Camper)
- Tier 2 – $1,200 (Camp Fee)
- Tier 1 – Minimum Deposit + Awarded Campership
Camperships are available for families and campers in all our programs. Campership applications are included in all online and paper application packets. Families are asked to pay the non-refundable deposit and submit that payment WITH CIT and campership application paperwork.
Returning participants are eligible for camperships throughout the year.
